Closure

We regret that Sylvester’s Cattery has now closed for future bookings.

It is with regret that I have taken the decision to close Sylvester’s.

Over the last couple of years it has been very hard to staff the cattery adequately and the situation is getting worse. This has put a great deal of pressure on the whole establishment.

The fact that I and the existing staff are not getting any younger has made life very difficult. Having been going since 1986, 7 days a week all year, every year perhaps I have amassed enough leave entitlement to call it a day!

I have to be realistic about how long I can continue to work the number of hours that I have always put in to look after our guests. Add to this the constant taking on and training of staff that do not last for more than one or two weeks (sometimes one or two days!) and I feel we have to call a halt.

We will still be here running the pet crematorium and pet cemetery and will be available to provide the best care for you and your pets when you have need of us. Please remember us when the time comes as this is a sector that is unregulated and subject to gross mis-selling. You can be sure that we operate to the same high standards we have always put into looking after our boarders. See our details at www.clpets.co.uk.

I would like to thank you all for your support of the last 32 years. I have seen generations of cats come through your households and I hope we have managed to keep them happy and well looked after. I cannot tell you how much we will all miss seeing them.

If we have ever fallen short in your eyes then I can assure you that we have always put 100% into the care and I can only apologise if that has not been enough. I can only hope those occasions have been few and far apart.

The pet funerals will still keep as all very busy but perhaps I can get a little more sleep at night that I have far the last 30 odd years. Perhaps even be able to relax a little in the summer and spend a bit more time looking after my own cat.

Once again, a huge thank you to everyone.
